Technical tools available to HR business partners for use with HR related tasks
Human Capital Management
Human Capital Management (HCM) is the most important tool for HR business partners. Campus business partners will use HCM for a variety of tasks, i.e. entering appointments, approving position data, PET entry and approval. For access, click the link above to view training requirements and begin an OIM request. By gaining access to the PPL Role in HCM, business partners will also receive access to CU Careers and MyLeave.
Human Capital Management
CU Careers is the applicant tracking system used by UCCS. CU Careers is used for posting available positions and recruiting applicants and ultimately selecting a final candidate for hire. Applicant data from CU Careers feeds to HCM.
Human Capital Management
MyLeave is the official method for time keeping at UCCS. PPLs are typically responsible for posting timesheets after they are approved. Business Partners with the PPL role in HCM will have access to MyLeave department views.
Human Resources Service Tools
Human Resources uses a service management system called Cherwell. Business partners, other campus users and external customers submit a ticket through the self-service portal or via email at email@example.com. All requests for HR service should be submitted via Cherwell. Access is granted to the self-service portal by logging in with your UCCS credentials.
Human Resources uses a content management system called OnBase to maintain electronic records. All personnel files are stored electronically using OnBase. Other HR documentation that is not a part of the official personnel record may still be stored in OnBase. Users who perform specific tasks in coordination with HR may receive access to OnBase.
Candidate Selection Tools
HireVue is a video interviewing and assessment platform that provides recorded one-way (on demand) and live video interviews for job applicants. This tool enables search committees to conduct initial candidate screening interviews asynchronously. Interviews are recorded so that they can be reviewed by search committee members at a time that is convenient to them.
Background Checks & I-9
Human Resources uses a screening and verification system called HireRight to process background checks and verify employment eligibility. I-9s are initiated based on federal compliance requirements. Background checks are initiated according to APS 300-022. These processes are completed by HR and business partners do not need access to HireRight.
Skill Survey is an automated reference checking tool used during the search process to gain feedback from top applicants' peers, managers and subordinates prior to extending an offer. To gain access to Skill Survey, please send your name, title, and phone number to firstname.lastname@example.org. Business partners must complete required training before access will be granted.
Training & Professional Development
Skillsoft is a leraning management system used for required online training, instructor-led training courses or choose from more than 25,500 titles in SkillSoft Books. SkillSoft is accessed through the CU employee portal and can be found on the home page. Some of the courses in the CU catalog are required; others are dependent on specific work or role responsibilities. Consult the CU training matrix to see what courses you may be required to take.
LinkedIn Learning is a professional development tool which provides over 13,000 expert-led courses on in-demand skills to provide employees with opportunities to learn new skills or refine current skills. Employees will have the option to connect the CU LinkedIn Learning account accessed through their portal to their personal profile on LinkedIn. Linking accounts will provide a more personalized experience with specialized course recommendations based on your job title, skills and industry.
Web & Desktop Applications
