Work Week Change

Work Week Change

Effective June 1, 2025, the work week will be Sunday through Saturday, which is a change from our current work week of Saturday to Friday. This change is being implemented to align our work weeks with the other campuses for the purpose of overtime calculations. We chose this period because it aligns the end of the calendar month with the new work week. Exempt employees (not eligible for overtime) and non-exempt employees that do not work over the weekend will be largely unaffected by this change.

To support this change, we will be sending out additional communications and holding meetings for those employees and supervisors that are affected.

What You Need to Do:

  1. Stay Informed: Please keep an eye out for further communications and meeting times from HR with more details about the new work week schedule.
  2. Ask Questions: If you have any immediate questions or concerns, do not hesitate to reach out to your supervisor or HR for assistance.

Implementation: In collaboration with Employee Services, in the week leading up to the new work week, beginning May 24, we will monitor employees earning overtime or comp time and complete an individual assessment on which of the work week schedules (Saturday to Friday or Sunday to Saturday) an employee would have earned the most overtime or comp time and pay/award them the higher amount. We hope this effort will ensure a smooth transition.

Work Week Change FAQs

The new work week schedule is being implemented to align our campus work week with the other University of Colorado campuses.

The new work week will be 12:01am on Sunday to Midnight on Saturday.

The new schedule will be effective starting June 1, 2025.

This may or may not change your daily work hours. Exempt employees (not eligible for overtime) and non-exempt employees (eligible for overtime) that work a traditional Monday through Friday 8am- 5pm type schedule will not be affected because the change in the days occurs over a weekend.

Non-exempt employees that work Friday through Sunday may need to adjust their schedule to align with the new work week in order to avoid earning overtime or comp time.

Overtime will be calculated based on the new work week schedule beginning the week of June 1, 2025.  Employees will be eligible for overtime pay for any hours worked beyond 40 hours per week or according to the regulations for law enforcement and fire protection.

No, your pay and benefits will remain the same under the new work week schedule. Only the structure of your work hours is changing.

We understand that this change may require some adjustments. Please reach out to your supervisor to discuss any specific concerns or conflicts you may have. We will work with you to find a suitable solution.

If you have any questions or need support during this transition, please reach out to your supervisor or the Office of Human Resources at hrhelp@uccs.edu.
