Workplace Accommodations

Workplace Accommodations

The University of Colorado Colorado Springs is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment. When appropriate, we provide reasonable accommodations to staff, faculty, student employees, and applicants to ensure equal access to employment opportunities and enable individuals to perform their job responsibilities effectively.

Accommodations may be requested for various needs, including disabilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and religious practices. Accommodations may include, but are not limited to, assistive technology, accessible workspaces, flexible scheduling, and remote or hybrid work arrangements. Accommodations may also address specific needs, such as allowing time for religious observances or adjustments for religious attire. Each request is evaluated through an interactive process to determine appropriate adjustments.

For more information on the types of accommodations available or to begin the request process, please explore the sections below.

ADA Accommodations

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), enforced by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), defines a disability as a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits major life activities such as eating, sleeping, walking, thinking, and working.

A workplace accommodation is a reasonable modification or adjustment to the work environment that enables a qualified individual with a disability to perform essential job functions or access the same benefits as non-disabled employees.
