Search Process Questions
The process is as follows:
- Applicants must complete and submit an application online. All required documents need to be attached to the online application by the priority date for full consideration.
- Once the priority date comes, all applications will be screened for minimum qualifications by the search committee. This process takes approximately 1-2 weeks from the priority date in the posting.
- Qualified applicants who are to be interviewed will be contacted by the Chair of the search committee or the HR Liaison for the hiring department. This process takes approximately 1-3 weeks. You may be asked to do a HireVue video interview, so be sure to check out our HireVue applicant success page. NOTE: Possession of the minimum qualifications for a position does not ensure an interview.
- Qualified candidates from the first round of interviews will be recommended to the hiring manager for the final round of interviews. This process takes approximately 1-2 weeks.
*The recruitment for lecturers is different from other position types. In this case we accept applications for a POOL of qualified candidates. To maintain the most current pool of applicants for lecturer positions, the job posting for each pool will remain open for one calendar year. Departments will reach out to you if there is a vacancy, and they feel you are qualified to teach the course(s) needed.
The current academic year job postings for lecturer pools will close and new academic year job postings for the pools will become available the next day after the previous posting closes. Applicants will receive an automated email from our application website informing them that their application has expired. If still interested in being considered for a position at UCCS, applicants need to update their application, cover letter, and resume, and then apply for the new job posting for the lecturer instructor pool.
For all questions related to the status of your application, the hiring process, and the collection of confidential letters of recommendation, contact the job posting contact that is indicated at the bottom of the posting.
Yes. Applications are still accepted after the priority date, and the posting will remain open until filled.
The posted range is the range we expect to pay for the position. This allows us to hire someone minimally qualified, as well as someone who has a vast amount of experience, education, or other qualifications. Therefore, you should expect an offer within this range if determined as the finalist.
If you are selected as the finalist for the position, the offered salary will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, specialty, and training. These factors will be compared to current employees in similarly situated positions to ensure that there is internal equity among salary rates. Many times, the salary offered is the most we can pay based on our current salaries on campus.
This timeline is tentative, meaning that it might change throughout the process. This could change because of a lack of qualified applicants at the priority date, search committee members unexpectedly being out of the office, or other factors that would affect the search.
However, if the search timeline is being adjusted, you should be notified of this change by the posting contact, or through the CU Careers system email.
Each academic discipline has a page on the college website. You can see the types of degrees and/or certificates offered in the discipline, and there is a link to the course descriptions in the college catalog.

Application Questions
Each job posting is different and will specify the required documents. Generally, they include cover letter, resume/CV, and unofficial transcripts.
A cover letter highlights your qualifications (e.g., relevant experience, skills, training, education) for the position. The cover letter may be addressed to the 'Selection Committee'.
For positions that require a degree or equivalent to a degree, transcripts of all college coursework must be submitted to verify that an applicant meets the minimum educational requirements. The transcripts you are attaching provide evidence that you meet the minimum qualifications and must state the degree title, major, and date awarded.
No, transcripts do not need to be official at the time of application. Legible unofficial transcripts stating your degree title, major, and date awarded (if applicable) are acceptable at the time of application, but official transcripts will be required if you are hired. It is the applicant's responsibility to black out any date of birth or social security numbers on transcripts before attaching them to an application. Foreign transcripts must be accompanied by a detailed evaluation from a formal evaluation agency.
"Curriculum vitae" is a term frequently used in higher education and resume is more common in most other industries. Both are a summary of your education, skills, work experience, publications, etc.
