Reporting Leave - Campus Closure
Should the campus be closed by the Chancellor or designee due to weather or other emergency event, administrative leave for Classified and University Staff* will be authorized as follows:
Full Day Campus Closure
- Administrative leave is granted to all employees scheduled to work (whether reporting on campus or remotely)
- Employees who are already on approved vacation, sick, or other type of leave when a closure occurs may substitute one day of administrative leave for the previously approved type of leave.
Partial Day Campus Closure
- Administrative leave is granted to all employees who report to work on the day of partial closure (whether reporting on campus or remotely)
- Employees who are already on approved vacation, sick, or other type of leave when a partial closure occurs may substitute the time of administrative leave for the previously approved type of leave.
Essential Services
- Essential services staff who are required to work on campus during a campus closure are paid at the regular rate for the hours worked.
- Essential services staff who are required to work on campus during a campus closure may be granted an equivalent amount of administrative leave which must be taken within 90 days of the campus closure.
Early Release
- Early release time which has not been authorized by the Chancellor or designee shall be charged to personal leave or leave without pay.
Sick Leave
There may be times where campus is open and operational during inclement weather, but an employee needs to take time off. Employees may use sick time in the following circumstances:
- When the employee needs to care for a family member whose school or place of care has been closed due to inclement weather, loss of power, loss of heating, loss of water, or other unexpected occurrence or event that results in the closure of the family member’s school or place of care.
- When the employee needs to evacuate the employee’s place of residence due to inclement weather, loss of power, loss of heating, loss of water, or other unexpected occurrence or event that results in the need to evacuate the employee’s residence.
*These procedures do not apply to student employees or temporary employees.
