On March 18, 2020 Congress passed the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA). Effective April 1, this act creates provisions for certain employees impacted by COVID-19 to take paid leave. Employees who are impacted and requesting leave should review guidance in the sections below for completing a leave request. Those who do not qualify for leave under the FFCRA may still use accrued sick and vacation leave with supervisor approval.
For information about leave unrelated to the COVID-19 pandemic, please visit the Leave page.
Note for Student Employees
Paid leave is not normally available to student employees. However, if the student employee meets the criteria for Emergency Sick or Childcare Leave under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) outlined below, they should complete a Families First Coronavirus Response Act Leave Request form and may be granted emergency paid leave. If a student employee does not qualify for emergency paid leave under the FFCRA or exceeds the emergency leave allowance they will not be paid for any hours they do not work.
If a student employee is sick, they should not report to work. Student employees should complete the Wellness Check prior to returning to campus to ensure they meet health criteria for a safe return.
