The university is closely monitoring the rapidly changing situation with coronavirus (COVID-19). Please note that the campus is not closed. All campus wide decisions are being made with the health and safety of our community at the forefront, and with the best-available guidance from public health authorities. This is a fluid situation. Check this website frequently for changes in employee guidance.

As we approach the fall semester, all employees will fall into one of the following categories:

Essential Services Employees: Essential staff required to maintain operations for students on campus and/or living in the residence halls and to maintain campus operations will continue to report to campus as directed by their supervisor. Note, this does not change the status of employees who were laid off or furloughed.

On-Campus, Non-Essential Employees: Employees in positions which are not conducive to being performed remotely should work with their supervisor to coordinate their return to campus. All areas should determine whether or not the essential functions of each individual employee can be performed remotely, keeping in mind this may not be an all-or-nothing scenario and employees may be asked to perform some functions on campus and others remotely. For example, an HR employee may perform most duties remotely but need to be on campus in order to complete I-9 paperwork for new employees. Guidelines for Summer Campus Access were sent via campus email on May 21, 2020. This guidance can be viewed here.

Remote Employees: Staff are expected to continue working remotely unless the essential functions of their role cannot be completed remotely.

All employees who are permitted to continue working remotely, including Classified Staff, should complete an Alternate Work Schedule/Location Request and Agreement and departments should submit the form to HR via hrhelp@uccs.edu. This remote working status will be in effect until further notice. For departments with a large number of employees working remotely, please send a list of all staff working remotely to hrhelp@uccs.edu. Alternate work location request forms should still be completed for all employees and can be submitted to HR when normal campus operations resume. If a form was already completed and submitted at the beginning of remote work, a new form is not necessary unless there has been a change in the arrangement.

The Return to Campus Decision Resource can be used to assist employees and their supervisors with what to do should an employee not feel comfortable returning to campus for any reason.

If a high-risk employee is in a job which is not conducive to being performed remotely, they must complete the High-Risk Employee Self-Reporting Form and provide medical documentation to HR for a review of accommodations or leave options available based on the circumstances.
